Shooting
- Right-click to shoot.
- Shots are instant: they land along where you’re looking, the moment you fire. It works the same on Java and Bedrock.
- A hit on the head does 1.5× damage.
- Guns follow the combat rules. A shot at someone you can’t hurt, or into a safe zone, does nothing.
Reloading
- Each gun keeps its own rounds. A new gun comes fully loaded.
- When it’s empty, it reloads by itself from the ammo in your inventory. There’s no reload button.
- Switching to another item stops the reload.
- Holding a gun shows its ammo above your hotbar, like
Pistol 7/12 · 36 spare. - Out of ammo? Buy more at a hideout or the armory. See Money and shops.
The guns
These are the current numbers. They can change as we balance the game. A player has 20 health (10 hearts), and armor takes some damage away.
| Pistol | Shotgun | Rifle | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Damage | 5 (2½ hearts) | 3 per pellet, 6 pellets: up to 18 up close | 8 (4 hearts) |
| Range | 40 blocks | 15 blocks | 80 blocks |
| Fires every | 0.4 seconds | 1 second | 1.25 seconds |
| Magazine | 12 | 6 | 5 |
| Reload | 2 seconds | 3 seconds | 3 seconds |
| Ammo | Pistol ammo | Shotgun shells | Rifle rounds |
- Pistol: cheap, quick, good all round.
- Shotgun: the pellets spread out, so it’s deadly up close and weak far away.
- Rifle: slow, but hits hard from far away.
The taser
Only guards have one. They get it when they go on duty.
- It does no damage. It slows its target right down for 3 seconds, long enough to cuff them.
- It reaches 10 blocks, and recharges in 10 seconds. It needs no ammo.
- It follows the combat rules: it works on criminals, and on inmates in the prison during a riot.
- It can’t be dropped, and it’s never sold.
Losing your guns
When a criminal is arrested, or dies, all their guns and ammo are taken. They don’t drop for anyone else.
Without the resource pack
On Java, guns get their look from our resource pack. Without it, they look like plain hoes, but they work exactly the same.
